Carbon-Zero Skyscraper

The Hybrid Wood Tower by DIALOG is a proposed 105-story skyscraper in Toronto, featuring a hybrid structure of timber, steel, and concrete. The design emphasizes sustainability, aiming to be net-zero in carbon emissions. It incorporates innovative systems like photovoltaics on its facades and an algae bioreactor to absorb CO2 emissions from its co-generating power system. The use of cross-laminated timber (CLT) and hybrid timber floor systems allows for open, spacious layouts, reducing material waste and enhancing efficiency.

With a height of 460 meters, the project demonstrates the potential of tall timber buildings in addressing climate change. Its design symbolizes a shift toward greener urban architecture, integrating advanced construction techniques and sustainable energy solutions.

For this project, we collaborated closely with the design team, creating detailed visuals that included the tower's integration with the urban landscape of Toronto. We were also tasked with designing the greenhouses and adjacent park areas to the tower.
